How to correctly install insulation bricks to ensure maximum thermal insulation performance?

The installation quality of insulation bricks directly affects their thermal insulation effect. Correct installation is the key to ensure building energy saving.

Before installing insulation bricks, the wall surface needs to be carefully processed. Remove dust, oil, loose materials and other impurities from the wall surface to ensure that the base layer is flat and solid. At the same time, according to the design requirements, accurately measure the wall size and plan the layout of insulation bricks to reduce cutting and ensure the overall thermal insulation effect. In addition, prepare high-quality insulation bricks, special adhesives, caulking materials and necessary installation tools such as spatulas, levels, rubber hammers, etc.

Select adhesives that are compatible with insulation bricks and mix them evenly according to the product instructions. Use a toothed spatula to evenly apply the adhesive on the wall to form a strip of a specific shape and thickness, usually 3-5 mm thick. When applying, ensure that the adhesive is evenly distributed, there is no blank area, and the strip is full and continuous to ensure that the insulation bricks are fully bonded to the wall.

Lay the insulation bricks on the wall one by one according to the pre-planned layout plan. Gently press the insulation bricks to make them fit tightly with the adhesive, and use a rubber hammer to tap gently to adjust the flatness and levelness of the bricks. Use a level to check each brick to ensure that the brick joints are horizontal and vertical, and the height difference between adjacent brick surfaces does not exceed the specified range. During the paving process, if you encounter pipes, doors and windows, etc., you need to cut and splice them reasonably to ensure the integrity of the insulation layer.

After the insulation bricks are laid, the brick joints should be handled in time. Use caulking materials with good elasticity and sealing properties, fill them evenly into the brick joints, and use special tools to compact and scrape them flat. The width of the brick joint is generally controlled at 2-3 mm. If it is too small, the caulking material may not be fully filled, and if it is too large, it will affect the insulation performance and overall appearance. The caulking material should be slightly lower than the brick surface, and form a slightly concave surface after drying, which is convenient for subsequent cleaning and maintenance.

Determine whether anchoring and reinforcement are required based on factors such as the type, specification and building height of the insulation bricks. For buildings in high-rise buildings or areas with strong winds, special anchor nails are usually installed on the insulation bricks. The length of the anchor nails should be determined according to the thickness of the insulation layer and the condition of the base wall, and the installation positions should be evenly distributed to ensure that the insulation bricks are firmly fixed on the wall and enhance the overall stability and wind resistance.

In order to improve the durability and thermal insulation performance of insulation bricks, a layer of protective coating can be applied on their surface. The protective coating should have good air permeability, weather resistance and waterproofness, and can effectively prevent moisture from invading the insulation layer, while allowing moisture in the wall to dissipate outward to avoid the insulation bricks from reducing the insulation effect or being damaged due to moisture.

After the insulation bricks are installed, a comprehensive quality inspection should be carried out. The inspection content includes the bonding firmness, flatness, verticality, brick joint quality and installation of anchor nails of insulation bricks. Problems found should be rectified in a timely manner to ensure that the installation quality of insulation bricks meets relevant standards and design requirements, so as to maximize their thermal insulation performance and provide efficient energy-saving guarantee for buildings.
